Water Pillow: Sleep Your Way To Better Posture

There is no scientific proof that serves as the end all be all when it comes to back and neck pain. No one can say for sure what the leading cause for such pain is. However, most chiropractors and doctors who specialize with posture and spine problems will suggest that a person’s sleeping environment is a leading factor.

Between mattresses that promote bad posture and pillows that cause misalignment, the body ends up spending roughly half its life crammed in a non beneficial positions that cause the neck and back to hurt.  For years, it was assumed that having a good mattress was the most important way to correct the problem. New research suggests that a proper pillow may have more to do with spine and neck relief than a mattress.

Manufacturers have been making memory foam pillows for years. There is an awareness that pillows are a major part of a sleeper’s comfort. The problem has been the lack of variety. In other words, it is important to have a pillow that can be customized to the individual person’s sleep patterns. That is where the water pillow makes its entrance. A water pillow is designed similarly to the memory foam pillows in shape and contour but has the advantage of being able to be filled and emptied as the sleeper sees fit.

By creating an environment where the sleeper can dictate what is comfortable to their needs, many pain problems can be solved. Doctors will agree; each person is their own best diagnostician. That means people can decide for themselves how full or empty to keep the pillow and having water as the filling makes adjustments easy. Once the right fill level for a cool pillow is discerned, the sleeper can begin sleeping his or her way back to pain-free comfortable days.
